BIG-IP APM/LTM with natively proxied PCoIP connections using Connection Servers only

I am trying deploy F5 with Vmware View using iapps(f5.vnware_view1.3.0). After all configuration I am able to auth the user with AD and RSA Secure ID. but my connection is disconnection as soon as it connect to users virtual machine. I get view desktop black screen for second.

Not sure what I am missing. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Ketan

Review /var/log/apm for your user's session first and see if there is anything unusual. Logs are the first line of troubleshooting.

Also make sure you're running the latest hotfix for 11.6 or 12.0. Horizon View support was only recently added.

  • That from APM log. According this link sol16850 https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/16000/800/sol16850.html. I need to upgrade Big IP version. If you think it can be something else let me know.

Let us know what happens after the upgrade to latest 11.6 hotfix or 12.0. The errors you mention:

err vdi[7235]: 01490000: {150.C} View signal: invalid client spi ''

err vdi[7235]: 01490000: {150.C} View signal: bad xml in client request, sending fail with 1034 code. Please check signal virtual server configuration

are usually due to a firewall or routing problem to the View server. TMM must be able to route from a floating self IP in the same route domain and establish a good connection to the view server. Packet captures should be able to reveal the problem.

  • It not routing issue as I am able to traceroute from connection server to F5 self ip and visa versa. Also wire shark on connection server shows traffic coming from F5 self ip.

  • Even after upgrade to 11.5.3 HF2. I am still getting this error Oct 26 10:31:53 GV-BigIP4000-1 err vdi[15814]: 01490000: {f.C} View signal: invalid client spi '' Oct 26 10:31:53 GV-BigIP4000-1 err vdi[15814]: 01490000: {f.C} View signal: bad xml in client request, sending fail with 1034 code. Did you ever managed to resolve this? Getting the same problem and thinking of starting a support case :/

  • For me it was related to client. Here's the list of supported clients from the compatibility list: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_apm/manuals/product/ap m-clientcompatmatrix-11-5-3.html

VMware View Compatibility Matrix F5 BIG-IP APM Secure PCoIP Proxy supports the following server products:

VMware Horizon View 5.2 VMware Horizon View 5.3 VMware Horizon View 6.0* VMware Horizon View 6.1* ** *APM currently does not support publishing and providing remote connectivity to the RDS hosted applications feature in Horizon View 6 and later.

**APM currently does not support Horizon View HTML5 client in Horizon View 6.1.

    The following clients were tested:

    VMware Horizon View Client for Windows 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4

Yes I forgot to update, actually tried another client the same day and that was the problem. Old 5.2 view client didn't work but the 5.2 horizion client worked.
