ntp question

Hello everyone: I configure NTP server ,F5 services display list ntp is running ,but other servers is running for 1 hours! If ntp display is normal ?

  • yes, for 'ntpd' non-core daemon status, it will show "running" & its expected. Need not to worry..!!

  • Hello,

It looks like that some services restarted and they have an uptime of 1 hour. But the history message indicating running... Is normal for ntp

lb will use the mgmt interface to reach ntp server ..do a trace & capture tcpdump to see 123 traffic (UDP). Do some checks as in https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/10000/200/sol10240.html see if you can sort it out with the test result as stated in above url. There are multiple reasons depending upon your infrastructure. is 123 allowed in firewall is in between f5 & ntp server ?
  • Try adding a management route and make sure the NTP server is reachable.

Your output shows a stratum of 16 (st). This indicates that your box can't sync with the specified ntp server. Try restarting the ntp daemon. show /sys service ntpd restart /sys service ntpd

@niels vlan sluis ,I have accorded to what you said to operate, the result is the same still . I do the experiment in the VE platform.
  • Also make sure that NTP traffic isn't blocked by any firewall. Below some sample commands and output to troubleshoot your NTP problem.
